I am a freelance writer and editor with many years of experience on national New York-based magazines (including O, the Oprah magazine; Entertainment Weekly; In Style; and Women’s Health), newspapers (including The New York Times), and books.

For the last five years, I have lived in Denver, writing and editing for a variety of publications. My work includes everything from profiles to restaurant reviews to health pieces to travel stories.

My journalism career began in daily metropolitan newspapers (my hometown paper, The Kansas City Star, followed by The Chicago Tribune, The San Francisco Examiner, and finally, The New York Times). I had always wanted to work in magazines, and loved books and movies, so when I got the opportunity to be on the launch team of Entertainment Weekly, I jumped at the chance to work on Oscar coverage, help rank the most powerful people in Hollywood, and dig deep into the best Seinfeld episodes.

Magazines have allowed me to scratch a lot of itches: At In Style magazine, I learned how to edit cover stories on the likes of Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman (and also a bit on how to dress stylishly!). At Women’s Health, where I served as executive editor, I indulged my passion for fitness and nutrition. At O, I got to edit Dr. Phil and Suze Orman but more important, got to helm creative, poignant packages on how to live your best life.

After moving to Denver in early 2014, I’ve continued to write for national publications while also serving as executive editor at Denver Life magazine, where I’ve had the chance to write on everything from local mushroom hunters to the best places to cross-country ski while still getting to enjoy Colorado’s unmatchable great outdoors on my weekends off.
